IRGC chief accuses US of historical interference and psychological warfare

IRGC chief Hossein Salami dismissed Trump’s remarks, accusing the US of psychological warfare against Iran. He condemned Washington’s historical interference and hinted at a major defense technology breakthrough. Iran asserts that the balance of power has shifted in its favor.

AhlulBayt News Agency: IRGC chief Major General Hossein Salami has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s remarks about Iran, stating that Trump’s perception of Iran is far removed from reality. Speaking at a ceremony in Tehran on Thursday, Salami accused Trump of either misunderstanding Iran or deliberately engaging in psychological warfare against the Iranian people.

Salami criticized Trump’s comments in Riyadh, where the US president contrasted Iran’s economic situation under sanctions with Saudi Arabia’s development. Trump claimed that Saudi Arabia had transformed deserts into fertile farmland and offered Iran a “better path” toward prosperity.

The IRGC chief rejected these remarks, asserting that Iran knows its true friends and enemies. He accused the US of imposing sanctions that prevent medicine from reaching Iranian patients, emphasizing that such efforts have failed.

Salami recalled Trump’s past statements, including his 2019 remarks labeling Iran as a “terrorist nation.” He questioned how Trump could now present himself as a friend of Iran after previously making such accusations.

He also condemned the US for its historical interference in Iran, citing the 1953 CIA-backed coup that ousted Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq and strengthened the monarchy. Salami accused the US of attempting to replace Iran’s religious values with Western influences during the Pahlavi era.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Salami argued, the US has been behind wars, sanctions, and media campaigns aimed at subjugating Iran. He asserted that Washington does not understand Iran’s people, government, or Islamic foundations.

Salami concluded by hinting at a major defense technology achievement that Iran will unveil soon. He stated that the balance of power has shifted and will continue to change in Iran’s favor.
